Political Humor - Daily Obamatude for June 21
Foreign policy has been throwing curve balls to the administraton this week. Incidents with North Korea, and Iran in particular have given the American President heartburn. For some reason, these two regimes disdain the Obama-held belief that all nations aspire to be part of a peaceful, prosperous and diverse global community. Obama and His staff cannot understand why.
While the smartest administration in history tries to figure out why despots remain despots, Iran and North Korea edge closer to nuclear capability. Obama appears resigned to allowing these two to achieve the ability to wipe out entire cities in a single strike. Still holding firm to His belief that by the power of His persuasion, He can prevent a nuclear catastrophe, the President has failed to alter the course these two have chosen.
Iran’s path may be altered should the people’s uprising gain strength. North Korea’s path may only be altered by appeasement or military defeat. Since the Chosen One appears very unwilling to confront our enemies, the appeasement option appears real. Since the President has such great faith in his ability to talk bad guys into doing good, Obama will probably give the DPRK much of what it wants in exchange for promises of compliance - which is to say, in exchange for nothing.
