Reality set in this week in Sacramento as voters refused to allow their state government to appropriate more of citizen’s hard earned money.  In what should be a lesson to the rest of the United States, California’s tax policy finally revealed what happens when citizens demand goods and services at the expense of others.  Bankruptcy is now a real possibility for the Golden State.

California legislators now must begin the work of being honest with their constituents;  they must start cutting services they promosed as part of the massive Calfirona social compact.   This will be particularly distateful to state Democrats as for years liberals have purchased votes using benefits paid for by weathier residents.  Now that fewer residents are paying into the state fund, fewer services are available and Democrats have to answer for it.  It will at least make the news worth watching.
